Whether you are planning to exclusively breastfeed your baby or bottle feed with formula or donor milk. There is a bonding experience that is so important to both your healing after birth to your baby’s brain development. These bonds and moments while trying to nurse your baby might get overwhelming and feel exhausting at times, but with the proper guidance and support, you can relax and enjoy this incredible journey. Hiring a trusted lactation consultant in Southern Oregon can be the best gift you can give yourself and your baby.
Did you know thatΒ Milk & Honey Lactation and Education is now open in Central Point Oregon? Their new support and education center is not only a place to find guidance through your breastfeeding journey, but they also have a directory of trusted midwives, doulas, massage therapists, photographers, and even playgroups!
They encourage moms to take a lactation class anytime in the first two trimesters and then to schedule a prenatal lactation consult for between 30 and 36 weeks. If you have a history of a traumatic breastfeeding experience or a history of preterm birth you might want to schedule closer to 30 weeks so that you can be seen more than once before your delivery.
This prenatal guidance will prepare you with the tools and knowledge you will want to have for a successful nursing journey.
I would say this might be one of my favorite offerings from Milk & Honey. Reach out to them for more information on this traditional postpartum support for your body. This can be an added step in the healing process of your body. When you invite yourself to heal properly you are also supporting your body to relax and produce milk. All these tools will make your breastfeeding journey a smooth ride.
